Operations guide / COUNTERCRAFT FIELD NOTES
Plan a POS move around the day you actually run
Map your routines, prepare your data, and give your team a useful rehearsal before making a change.
Write down a real store day
Walk through opening, customer check-in, product selection, checkout, receipts, stock questions, and closing. Include the less frequent work: a return, a price exception, a disconnected device, or a staff change. Use actual routines to decide what your next system must support at launch.
Choose the first scope
Decide which location, register, and workflows belong in the initial move. Separate the essentials from improvements that can follow later. Give every required workflow a named owner and a clear way to show that it works. A focused first scope makes gaps easier to spot and resolve.
Prepare data with a destination
List the product, customer, staff, and stock information you intend to move. Know which store each record belongs to. Keep source exports safe and agree how corrections will be tracked. Ask the receiving system what it can import before shaping files around assumptions.
Rehearse the handoffs
Have the people who do the work try realistic examples. Follow one sale from customer check-in through receipt and inventory. Practice who handles a failed sign-in, an unclear product, or a device that cannot connect. Record what happened and who will resolve each open issue.
Give the change a clear owner
Agree who makes the final readiness decision, who supports the team during the change, and how the store will respond if a required workflow is unavailable. Keep the old records accessible. Plan a review after the first operating period so the team can turn observations into the next set of improvements.
A useful plan starts with your own store's needs. Bring these questions to your Countercraft demo and we'll work through them together.
